Discovering Moka
What is the purpose of a Moka gasket?
The gasket is a small ring, but the Moka depends on it for pressure, safety and a clean upward flow of coffee.

- It seals the boiler and collector when the pot is screwed together.
- A worn gasket can cause leaks, weak extraction or escaping steam.
- Replace it when it becomes hard, cracked or visibly deformed.
A small part with a precise task
When the Moka heats up, pressure pushes water through the coffee. The gasket helps keep that pressure where it belongs, so the coffee can rise into the collector.
If the seal is weak, the ritual changes immediately: steam escapes, the coffee may taste flat and the pot can become messy to use.

How to care for it
After washing the Moka, check that the gasket is clean and seated correctly. Do not use sharp tools to remove residue, because cuts and scratches shorten its life.
A replacement gasket is a simple maintenance step, but it can make the whole coffee maker feel dependable again.
