Discovering Moka
Ground coffee for Moka should never be pressed!
For the Moka, ground coffee should sit naturally in the funnel. Pressing it can make extraction uneven and the taste heavier.

- Choose a medium grind made for Moka preparation.
- Fill the funnel and level the surface gently.
- Do not press the coffee down like an espresso puck.
Why pressing changes the result
The Moka relies on water passing through the coffee with steady pressure. If the coffee is packed too tightly, water struggles to move evenly.
That can make the cup bitter, slow the brew or create unnecessary stress inside the coffee maker.

The right gesture
Fill the funnel to the top, remove excess coffee and keep the surface level. The coffee should be generous, but not compressed.
A simple, repeatable gesture is often the best way to get a clean and aromatic Moka cup.
